This workshop will showcase two nationally accredited and licensed birth centers. Lisa Ross Birth & Women's Center in Knoxville, established in 1991, is an urban non-profit birth center staffed by nurse-midwives offering a choice of birth center or hospital setting. Women's Wellness and Maternity Center, established in 1983 by a family physician and nurse-midwife, is owned by the local county. The recipient of many federal and state grants and awards, the center is also a certified Rural Health Clinic.

This non-profit birth center has successfully adapted to several changes in ownership and corporate structure over the past few decades, and is now part of El Rio Community Health Center. A mainstay in the Tucson community, this birth center offers a continuum of care with choice of birth center or hospital settings.

This workshop will showcase the Reading Birth & Women's Center, a nationally accredited and state licensed birth center, established in 1987. Founded by a nurse-midwife and now owned by an obstetrician, the center is staffed by nurse-midwives offering birth center and hospital birth to a diverse mix of clientele.
