What do we Know about Birth?
Edith B. Wonnell, CNM, MS
I have a few truisms that I would like to pass on, particularly to student nurse-midwives.
- It is wise to remember that the human body is as near a perfect machine as we will ever see and is well prepared to manage the normal process of labor.
- Many times, more problems are created by intervening in the labor process than by letting time evolve.
- Some truisms of practice today will be the medical mistakes of the future.
- Patience, spelled PATIENCE and TIME, are the virtues of a good nurse- midwife.
